As, however, applications of the kind continue to bo inado from time to timo it is considered necessary to bring the matter under the notice of school authorities. in order that the decision of tho Department may be made more generally known. , "The Department has offered no objection to tho issno of these tickets for tho use of boarders who require them for the purpose of travelling to ana trom their homes at week-ends (although such a Me of them was not contemplated when tho system of free school season tickets was instituted), but for obvious reasons it cannot see its way_ to agree to the application of tho privilege to the former class of cases, provision Vol which is made by tho special wg'iktioti onabling tickets to bo obtained at Uucequartcrs tho ordinary fare. . "For the purposes of general information it may not bo out of place, to state hero tho conditions generally applicable to tho issue of free school season tickets to pupils attending secondaiy schools. Theso tickets (availablo lor the "J® ° f inimls under 1!) years ot ago and lor ournevs not exceeding GO miles are limited so that holders can wily travel to the nearest school m: technical mliml. except in casco where a pupil h^ ceived special permission from narlment, on tho ground that he is U) A senior pupil taking a course preparing for entrance to tho University oi somo other approved course of lßstruclion not obtainable at a hi B h school nearer home; or (2) tho holder of a National Scholarship, l'roq tickets are not to issued to scholarship holders in receipt of a boarding allowance.
