DESCRIPTION OF THE VESSEL
One of the most popular ships in Australasian waters, the Wimmera, in her short life of 11 years, had a clean record. A vessel of 3022 tons gross register, sho was built at Greenock in 190-1 by Caird and Co., Ltd., and first eamo ti New Zealand on December 21, 100-1, when she arrived at Wellington. Since that time she had been trading between Australia, and New Zealand. Her dimensions are: Length, 333.3 ft.; breadth, ■13.2 ft.; depth, 20.0 ft. Her port of registry was Melbourne. She liad a cat'gocaivryiog' capacity of about 3000 tons deadweight, and was rigged as a fore and aft schooner. Her accommodation was for 170 first-class niid 100 secondclass' passengers. The value of the Wimmera was JG2-t,500. She was insured in Melbourne, and' was later reinsured. Several New Zealand companies hold risks. Wellington last ea.w ;he Wimmora here .on June 2 and 4, when she was en route from Melbourne, ua southern ports, to Sydney, via Auckland.
