ABOUT A TABLET
"RUNNING INTO NEEDLESS EXPENSE." ; "That a memorial tablet to be placed in tho new fever hospital exhibit tho names of all members of tho board," was a clause in the report of the Pinanco Committeo submitted 1 to the Hospital and Chairitablo Aid Board yesterday. In explaining the clause the chairmau (Mr. i£, Baldwin) said that tho board had decided to erect a foundation 6tone, and they did not wish to have on it only tho names of the chairmail, secretary, medical superintendent and-matron. Mrs. McLaren wished to know why a tablet was wanted at all — it was only running into needless expense. Sho said that 6ho did not want her namo on it. Mrs. Graco Noill also said that sho did not wish her name put on tho tablet. Several other members appeared to have tho same view; but when later on tho report as a whole was adopted, it was desired to know how they stood regarding the tablet clause. Tho chairman intimated that by adopting the a-oport they had adopted the clause. There the matter was allowed to rest.
