In regard to payment for work on .holidays or overtime' in nib-post and ■telegraph, offices, which has been browht under theiiotico of the Secretary of (he Post.and■' Telegraph Department by tlie Post and .Telegraph Officers' Association, that official h'ns replied as follows :— i-.;."1n reply to yotir'letter of the 18th .ultimo, regarding payment of holiday .overtime at sub-olfices in which you sug-gest-that the Commissioner b(i> recommended to amend the overtime regulations so that all. officc-rs of the Department may'receivo overtime lor duty Iμyond tho -minimum of .44 hours anil for Sunday and holiday duty, J -have to say that, payment is made in all cases for Sumday duty. Regarding the proposal lo pay for overtime beyond U jioars at all «nb-offices, I regret I-ami not prepared, to makp any such recommendation, but at an wu'ly'.date to recommend the Commissioner to extend the number of offices at which overlinie in'excess of •ii hours is payable,, and I hope it will he possible to so amend the regulations ■that at the offices' which have grown in importance payment.'for tho future will be made.-(Sgd.)
