MAORILAND DAIRY CO., LTD., WANGANUI.
AN ENTERPRISING CONCERN. Tho business of the Maorilnnd Dairy Company has made rapid strides since establishment some three years ago. The company's handsome ferro-concrete buildiiigi! comprising factory and offices, is situated in close proximity to St. John's railway station, and is onc( of tho first indications train travellers get of the unbounded energy and enterprise of Wajijjanui's commercial men. Wanganui ■was selected for the centre of operations for this big dairying enterprise because it is a shipping port with a largo stretch cf good country around it. By having a port at its doors almost the cost of goods and coal which the company uses comes cheaper than it docs' to factories eituated inland, and therefore savesi hundreds of pounds every year.- Butter can be shipped direct almost anywhere, nnd consequently there is a big saving in railage and cartage, which an inland •factory has to contend with. Eloine separation is, of -course, the fundamental principle that the company works upon, and the magnificent support accorded to it since inception augurs well for the future. Many dniry farmers as far dis<tant as Dannevirke, Eketnhnna, Pahintua, and many parts of the Main Trunk line and intermediate districts send their cream to the Maorilnnd Company, and the highest rates are always paid, which •makes for :he satisfaction of both supplier and company.. The factory-is certainly' one of the most tip-to-date and scientifically run in New Zealand. It can. be stated without hesitation that the plant'is out on its own for completeness. Everything that makes for laboursaving and convenience has been installed. The plant consists of a 25-h.p. boiler end a four-ton freezer, British Linde, and the combined' churn and worker, which can manufacture! upwards of one ton of butter in each churning. The Wizard and Jensen pasteurisers and iipeners which the company ■ uses are undoubtedly the test procurable in the world, as they enable the manufacture of a more-uniform and superior grade of butter than the direct expansion vats. • The printing and patting department is supervised by a lady export, whose jspecial care, it is to weigh every pound of butter before it is s?nt out to the trader. The total weight of each box of pats is also cheikod over, so that every purchaser may be sure that he is getli'm; full weight . /T'se manufacturing costs of the Maoriland Dairy Company are exceedingly ■low. and this comes about as a direct result of the 'superior labour-saving plant. Every attention is paid to tho el; rinsing of cans before being returned to farmers, and those who are thinking of sending their home-separated cream to the- company • during the incoming
season can' obtain cans in any quantity. The company always maintains a large stock of these, as well as thq celebrated "Beatrice" separator, which is admitted to be one of the highest grade separators on the market. . All cream is consigned to the Maoriland Dairy Factory, , St.' John's elation, and the conspaiiy pays freight. The factory is' run every day throughout the year, ,6o ihafc farmers can forward their cream whenever they like or whatever ' day of the week suite them.' ; Give .home sepwiiioi; your earnest consideration for this next season. Get in touch with the manager, Maoriland Dairy Company, Box 185, Wangimui, and he will supply all details. This is a payahle proposition, and deserves thought for your own benefit. —(Published by' Arrangement.) ;'
