COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

the weekly meeting of the Wellington Competitions Society was held last evening, Mr. ,T. H. Helfiwell presiding. His Excellency the Governor-General wrote, accepting the position of patron. The Hon. A. Myers, Hon. G. W. Kussell, and Messrs. C. B. Norwood and H. .Beauchamp wrote, accepting the office of vicepresidents. It was decided to award championship medals in the elocution, piano, vocal, and dancing sections. It was resolved to request the music dealers in the various towns to act as agents of the society, also to forward copies of the syllabus to the leading toacher3 throughout tho Dominion. A large addition to the list of special prizes was reported by various members of the council. The secretary reported that the matter for tho 6yllabus and book of words was well in hand, and would be ready for issue at an early date.
