REQUIEM MASS
THE LATE SIR CHARLES JOHNSTON
Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of the late Sir Charles Johnston, JvCLM.G., Speaker of the Legislative Council, was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Hill Sheet, yesterday morning. Tho Rev. Father Smyth, b.M., Adm., conducted the service, and tho Veil. Archdeacon Dovoy, S.M., and the Uev. Fathers Dignan and Campbell were also present in tho sanctuary. Mr. Bernard Page presided at the organ. Appropriate hymns were sung by a choir from St. Mary's Convent, and at the close of tho service Mr. Pnge pinned the Dead March in "Saul." The -congregation was supplied with a printed In Meinoriain brochuro containingtho service of Requiem Mass and appropriate psalms. Tho large congregation included Lieutenants Guy and S. Johnston and Mr. Lan Johnston (sons), Messrs. Goring Johnston, AValtor Johnston, and S. Johnston, Mrs. AValter Johnston, Mis. Arthur Duncan, Colonel R. J. Collins (representing His' Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral), Sir James Allen, tho Hons. Sir AV. Fraser, A. M. Myers, Sir William HallJones, M.L.C., Hon. 0. Samuel, .M.L.C., Lieutenant-Colonel A. de B. Brandon, Messrs. A. T. Bothamley (olerk assistant, Legislative Council), E. AV. Kane (clerk assistant, Hon so of Representatives), iho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.), His Honour Jlr. Justice Hosking, Dr. Hardwick Smith, Dr. Cajiill, Messrs. John Dnncan. Harold Beauchamp, G. T. Mason, C. H. Izard, M.L.C., Arthur Diincan, A. E. Pearce, C.
