Mac Donald, Minister of Mines, has arranged for a conference in Wellington on June 19 between the owners and representatives of the- miners to consider the dlaims for increased wages. Another matter which is likely to come before tho conference concerns the refusal■ of exemption from military service of thoso men on the WestiCoast who came out on Btriko some months ago, because their comrades declined to pny a. levy for the relief of. strikers in New South Wales.
