Private advice has been received stating, 'that I'rivatc K. I'otts, who was wounded some little time igo, has had to have one of his legs amputated. Mr. Ernest Bush, who is an ex-student of (he Wellington College, developed an early passion for the stage, and forsook the pharmacy trade to try his luck in Sydney. Niblo made a protege of the youthful New Zealander, and when Mr. Aihlo returned to America Mr. Bush iclt with him. Mr. William Slichbury, who died' at Takapuna, Auckland, this week, wad a partner for many years in tho firm of Parker, Green and Co., Ltd., but latterly was associated with his eon, Mi-. A. A. Stichbury, of this city. The late Mr. Stichbury fought through the Maori war, and was at' the' scigo of Orakau. His father, the'late Mr. Charles Stichbury, arrived at Wellington on January 1, 1840, in tho ship Cuba, having joined the survey party to survey the township of Wellington. Tho late 'Mr. William Stichbury was respected by all who knew him,- and will be greatly missed by his very many friends. Of Mr. Stichbury's five sons who volunteered for etrvice, three nrp still at tho Jront.
Mr. E. W. Pnterson, of 'Eoibnrgii' Street, lias received advice from Home from his son, stating that ho was quite well after Ins last grim experience in
the English Channel. Mr. Edward Paterson was fifth engineer on a New Zealand steamer, when she was torpedoed in the Channel after touching at Plymouth. Tho only two passengers on the steamer going: to England were- Mrs. Milsom (daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel (Dr.) W. E. Collins, of Wellington), and Mr. Joseph Joseph, also of this city. They both landed at Plymouth, and consequently escaped the experience of being torpedoed within sight of the southern cliff of Old England. .
