KARORI BOROUGH

MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Air. B. G. 11. Burn) presiding. There, wero present: Councillors W. Skegg, 11. L. Tingey, T. W. Lower, J. Mackenzie, B. T. Pell, H. E. Dryden, and A.' Hamilton. The Palmerslon North Chamber of Commerce wrote with reepoct to hydroelectric power that it was intended to hold a conference on Thursday, Juno 20, and requesting the Karori Council to appoint two delegates to attend that conference, with the object of forming a Hydro-Electric ' Power Lengife. Tho Mayor strongly supported the proposal, and eventually it was decided to appoint this Mayor and Borough Engineer as delegates. The Wellington Accountant Students' Society wrote inviting tho members of the council to attend a lecture to be given by Mr. B. E. Murphy, barrister, on "The Scope and Method of Economics and Its Significance, for the Business Man." It was decided to accept the invitation. ~ The Health Inspector reported two mild cases of diphtheria within' tho borough. The reports of the Finance, Committee, tho Works, and Recreation Reserve Committee, and the. Engineer's report weru received.
