BALLOT TO-DAY
10,000 MEN PROM CLASS C. The first ballot in Cto C of tho Second Division, (men with two children) will bo commenced by the Government Slatisticin.il this morning. Tho number of names to bo drawn is 10,000, and the ballot is not likely to bo completed before to-morrow evening. The names of tho selected men will bo published early next week. Class C contains a larger number of well-known men than any tf the classes yet balloted. ' Tho Govern neut Statistician (Mi'i. Malcolm Frasor), who has tho dety of conducting the ballot, is himself a member of the class, and will, of course, tako hu chance with tho rest.. Tho medical examination cf the reservists in this ballot will begin before tho cud of tho month, but it will not Iw completed until well on in July. Many of the men passed as fit may bo nvailabh* for tho October draft, but it is Anticipated that the promised twelve weeks' leave, will lw exceeded in their case. The Gazette containing the :.ames of tho selected Class C men will call for ecrvico also some hundreds of First Division men, recently arrived at military age, and a few members rf Classes A and B of tho Second Division.
