TECHNICAL EDUCATION
MEETING OF THE BOARD,
The Technical Education Board held its monthly meeting last evening. Mr. George Frost presided, and there were present: Tho Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, Messrs. 11.. M. Gore, T. Ballmger, W. L. Thompson, T. Forsyth, L. R. Partridge, A. Atkins, C. M. Lnke, and A. iG. Wallace. , , , The financial statement showed receipts J/138 IBs. 3d., and the expenditure amounted to .£978 13s. lid. The debit balance was shown at J!33l lis. on., as against .£1153 Bs. Gd. at the corresponding date last year. , • ■ The chairman extended a hearty wclcomo to Mr. A. G. Wallace, who took his scat on the board for the first- time as representative of the School Committees'- Association. • Mr Wallace, in returning thanks, said lie was fully aware of the need-of technical education. The boys of to-day would have to accept responsibilities much earlier than their fathers did, and furthermore they would have to face a commercial Avar presently, and to jneet this technical education was a in » t . te '\ of absolute necessity. 110 - know that every member of tho board was anxious to further tho interests of technical editcation, and ho was there to help to the 'utmost. , ... ... Mr. W. S La Trobe reported that the Minister of Education (the Hon. J. A. Hanan) would visit the Technical College this afternoon. A deputation from the bojird will wait on the Minister of Education on Thursday at U a.m. ■
