A REPATRIATED PRISONER OF WAR
STORY OP SLAVE GANGS BEHIND THE LINES. (Rec. June 4, 7.30 p.m.) London, June 3. , Private Sydney Clarke, a native of Brisbane, has arrived in London, repatriated from Holland. Ho was taken prisoner at Bapaumo in Fobruary, 1917. Ho sustained a bomb wound in tlio foot, and> lay in a trench all night. Ho, was taken prisoner in the morning, and his foot was amputated. At Cambrel Jie saw two Australian comrades compelled to work immediately behind the German lines. He declares that the prisoners are dependent on Red Cross parcels for bandages, dressings, food, ana clothes. Clarke is still in hospital.—Aua.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
