MOTOR-CAR AND TROOP TRAIN COLLIDE

CAK SMASHED, TO MATCHWOOD, A 6erious collision occurred at Hie Fitzberbert Street crossing in Featherston on Saturday evening. A. troop train which was leaving the station at 5.30 crashed into a motor-car driven by Mr, Charles Skipage, of Greytown. The car was smashed to matchwood and the occupants had a miraculous escape. A soldier named David Hamill, of Otago, sustained concussion of the brain. Hia brother, a lad aged thirteen, suffered severe injuries to the hip, and was admitted to the Greytown Hospital. Tho driver of the car had three ribs broken and sustained a severe wound in tho leg. A fourth occupant of the car escaped with scratches.
