SPURS TO ENDEAVOUR
THE "W. R. BICHAR-DSON SCHOLAKSHIPS." At the meeting of the Wellington College Governors hold yesterday, a letter was received from Mr. C ■T. Richnrdson, of "Waitawhiti" Station, Eketariina, notifying the board of the intention of himself and his sisters (Mrs. Guy Powles and Miss E. M. Eichardson, o" Wellington), to hand over to the board ,£3OO worth of War Loan Bonds, the interest on which was to be used for <he establishment of a scholarship at the Wellington College in memory of Mr. "W. E. Richardson, (the writer's brother), who was killed at Gallipoli. sl'r. Richardson proposed that th? scholarship should be awarded annually for history at the discretion of the Headmaster (Mr. J. P. Firth). A letter from Mr. Firth elated that he had discussed the matter with Mr. '". T. Richardson, and had proposed that the money should be divided into two scholarships,, one for English history and the other for hook-keepm?, to )k awarded on examination marks, and to be open to students of Forms i (A, B, and C; and Modern A and B. On the motion of Mr. J. P. Luke it was decided that Ihe nroposed action, as outlined by Mr. Firth, be given effect to, and thnt ft letter of thanks be forwarded to Mr. C. T. Eichardson and his sisters. This was agreed to. The secretary, on bein? nuestioned, enid that the bonds were available, and that the scholarships could be allotted this year, which was also agreed to.
