Nominations for all ovents at tho Winter Meeting of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club will close with the secretary, Mr. H. S Jloss, Market Street, Hastings, on Friday Juiic 14, at, S p.m. The death occurred at Wanganui during last week of Mr. Young, father of W. Wallace, H„ and d. Young, the well-known riders. Owners and trainers should bear in mind that entries /or nil events at, tho Wimer Mooting of the Napier Park Club close on Friday next. Amongst the horses nominated for the Gipborne Steeplechase are St. Elmn and Idealism, both of whom are not likely to see the post. Light harnesß trainer J. Bryce Is reported to have a high-class juvenile pacer engaged at the South Wairarapa T.O. fixture, in a colt by Wildwood Junior from Jenny Llnd. The youngster is a son of one of the mares which Bryce brought with him from Scotland -whan he arrived in New Zealand. The master of Oakliampton Loilce bred tho colt, and will race him in his own colours. The Porirua team for the Otaki Meeting will consist of Talithu, Blighty, Gold Soult, and Gwynne. The last-named is a gelding 'by Mahaki. and is to take 'us place in tho Hack Steeplechase fu'kl. .The team goes forward to-morrow. Tuesday next is an important day for owners, as on that date entries must bo mode for all the big Jumping ovents in Sydney and Melbourne, and also for ail the big spring handicaps at both places. Owing to the bad weather prevailing at tho week-end several horses were held up at New Plymouth on their way to Auckland. Amongst tho number were Sir Fisher and Collector. After his good form nt Wanganni on Saturday Hyginns is sure to have a large following for the Members' Handicap at Ellerslic. Formerly tho distanco of this race was five furlongs, which would have suited Ttyginas better, but thiß year tho distance is a furlong further. As it Is against the Bulcb of liacing for a man to train his wife's horses, the Tarnnaki-owned Jiu Jitsu was ineligible to start In the Hack Hurdles at Wnnganul. Tho succesß of Brneburn in tho \Vanganui Steeplechase put Jtr. E. J. White at the head of the list of winning owners with £SCO to his credit. Mr. F. Selwood, owner of the dual winner Volo, won £495, and Mr. F. S. Eastou, who scored with Master Strowan and Gang Awa, got a cheque for £490. The Stratford "Post" Btates that tho Taranaki District Committee haß decidcd for tho coming season to grant tho Stratford Kacing Olub two days, reinstating the second day of tho annual meeting: to grant a permit for tho North Taranaki limit Club's Meeting this year; and to cut out tho Opunake Meeting. Parsifal, who, it is expected, will carry the colours of the King in the next English Derby, has, so far as is known, only had one public appearance. This was in 1 ho Clear,voli Stakes, at Newmnrket Second October Mnetiue. There wore but iivo starters, and Parsifal ran second to Damask. Parsifal is by Bayardo from Prim Nun. A meeting of the IVangamii District Coinmittco was lielfl on Thursday last to decide which club should lose a <iayso that tho K[;mont-\Vni)gn»ui Hunt CJIIU could hold a meeting: next season. Nothing was made public as to what waß the decision of the meeting.
