3700 GUINEAS FOR A BULL
The "Scottish Farmer" of March 1(j Bays: "All former records of prices of Shorthorn bulls have been eclipsed at the annual show and sale of Shorthorns at Pcnryth, where The two-year-old bull, Everlasting, bred by Mr. Alexander Crombio, Woodend, Aberdeen, was awarded the supreme championship of the show, and was sold f0r,3700 guineas. Bidding started at 1000 guineas, and by 200-gniuea bids quickly mounted to 2000 guineas, when a bidder rapped out .1000 guineas. Other four bids brought him to 3700 guineas, when he was knocked down to the well-known exporter, Mr. A. M. Marshall, 'of Stranraer." The bull was bought tor £« in February, 1917, at Aberdeen. . A mooting of suppliers and shareholders of the Levin Co-operative Dairy Company was held at Levin on Friday to consider matters of interest to the industry. Mr. James Prouue, chairman of the directors, occupied the chair. After a free.discussion the meeting passed a resolution recommending tho directors Iα adhere to the manufacture of butter.
