TREE PLANTING DEMONSTRATIONS
The Auckland Farmers' Union made an application some time ago to the Department of Agriculture requesting that lectures be given on trees and plants by officers of the Department in different contresvfor the benefit of their members who are interested in tho subject. The secretary (Mr.. W. Huey) has now received a reply stating that owing to tho staff of the Department being depleted owing to the war, they regret thev are unable to arrange any lectures a? tho present time. They, however, state that tfie Department will bo giving demonstrations in the planting, pruning, mid spraying of fruit trees during the win-. Uγ months, nnd would be only too pleased to arrange any such demonstrations so that members of the Farmers , Union branches could find it convenient to attend. The branches of the union arts being advised accordingly, so that demonstrations can be given in districts where required.
