A TARANAKI DIVORCE CASE

In the Supremo Court beforo tho Chief Jv.stico and a common jury, Ernest Harvey (Kaponga) petitioned for divorce from Corico Harvey on ground of misconduct witli Patrick Deogan, farmer, of ICakaramea. Petitioner also claimed damages from co-respondent. Tho parties were married in 1906 and rented a house at Kaponga from Deegan in 1913. Deegan later boarded with the Harvoys, but eventually was forbidden tho house by petitioner. Deegan want to Kakaramea. Respondent was frequently away from home and was supposed to be at her mother's, in Inglewood. Petitioner traced her to a Hawora hotel, where e!he was co-habiting with Deegan. The defence admitted misconduct, but the evidence of respondent alleged persistent cruelty of petitioner which contributed or induced misconduct. Tho jury returned a ,verdict for petitioner for damages amounting to ,£225. A docree nisi was granted to bo made absolute in three months.
