A sparrow hawk, a rather rare bird, is jiow on view at the "Zoo." It was presented by Mr. A. N. Atkins, of Manakau, per the Wellington Zoological Society. This bird is quite distinct' from the common harrier or hawk, being much smaller and more finely built. A collection is to "be taken up at. the "Zoo" tomorrow afternoon 1 in aid of the Zoological Society's Animal Fund. A lantern lecture on "By-paths ill Evolution" will be delivered by Mr. J. Bowden in the Alexandra Hall on Saturday evening at .8 o'clock. A large number of studies, depicting weird and monstrous mammals that roamed the earth before the ago of man, will be screened. The Watorside Workers' Band will play selections at Lyall Bay to-morrqw at II p.m.
