THE RED JERSEY APPEAL

FLAG DAY TO-DAY. What lias been aptly called the KlitKlux Court will be hold in (he city streets to-day, In connection with the Red Jersey Appeal. It k a court set up to administer that ready incl suddon justice which was so much valued in the Western and Southern States of America in years gone by; and tho reason for the setting up of this court is the tendency on tho part of thoughtless members of the community to overlook tho buying of a Rod Jersey badge. These will bo for snle in the streets to-dav, in tho form of a small silk Union Jack; at the modest price of Is. No wearer of this badge will bo halc.l before the court, but all those who do not wear it will bo liable to arrest and to have summary justice dispensed to them, right on tho tramlines, for the court does not 6tand on its dignity, but will sit in tho street.

A featiwo of to-day's Flag Day, in (lie Bed Jersey enmpaign, will be the parade through the streets of a. captured German field gun. This weapon has been fully mounted and horsed, likewise manual, and Indies will ride on the limber, too, and beseech the popuiace to toss them a shilling. Accompanying the feun will be the Trcntham Camp Brass Band, whose playing has become a well-known and much-appreciated item in Wellington on all gala days. The Citizens' Committee is concorned that there shall bo no sympathisers with tho Germans to-day. All true Britons must wear Hags, if only to disassociate themselves wilh 'ho German (run. This week-end promises to be a busy one with raids and drives in the Bed Jersey interest. In the first place, Wadestown, one of the most patriotic of Wellington's suburbs, has arranged to go through its own pockets and to hand over to the Red Jersey funds all the coin found therein. This is Blue Artillery territory, and in addition- to the acquisition of wealth by the Bed Jersey funds, the suburb will be immune from raids bv the Bed Army should such an idea occur to them. 'It is freely rumoured that the idea did occur, so thai Wadestown may bo said to be taking a precautionary step. Karori has been hard at work stocking a Paddy's Market with good things lor Satuidnv, when residents who visit Oarratt's shop, on the Main Boad, will have an opportunity to buy many i.seful articles at reasonable prices. Buy s Bay and Bona Bay are busy, too, building up defences of'coiu unuiust the runwured raid of their territory by the Bed Army from Kilbirnie.
