THE LATE MR. JAMES GORDON BENNETT. New York, May 15. Advices stato that James Gordon Bennett, proprietor of tho Now York "Herald," died at his homo in South France. —Aiw.-M. Cablo Assn. l'lLB DUKE OF NORTHUMBERLAND. London, May 15. Tho Duke of Northumberland is dead. —Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn. fTlio fiovonth Duko of Northumberland, K.G., P.C.. IJLD., D.C.L., F.R.S., was born in 1849, and succeeded to tho dukedom in 1891). He was hon. (olonol of tho 3rd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and Ist Northumberland Artillery Volunteers. From 1808 to 1885 ho was M.P. for North Northumberland, Treasurer of tho Household, 1874-75; and President of tho Archaeological Institute, 1881-92. His heir is Earl Percy.l
