GERMAN PROPOSAL TO CEASE USING POISON SHELLS, (Reo. May IG,' 1 a.m.) Paris, May 15. Tko "Gazette Lausanne" says tnat tho Entente Powers, replying to 'the 'Geneva Red Cross with reference to the disuse of poison gas, point out that tlhe Entente Powers did not lxigin tho use of poison gas till they were obliged to. The Entente Powers had no confidence in Gormnny'e promises, but, as Germany , accepted the Geneva propositi, the Entente Powotb will not refuso to consider it. NeTerthol633, in the absoiico of effective guarantees, tho Entento Powers must tako all necessary measures against the enemy.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
