GREATER WELLINGTON
LOOKING ACROSS THE HARBOUR,
During tho course of his address to the Day 8 Bay ratepayers at rto Pavilion on Saturday evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luke, referred to the probable expansion of the city aoro3s the hlarbour to the eastern shore. The time was not far distant, he eaid, when the Citr Corporation would have to face, in its own interests, the question of acquiring suitable ferry boats for coping with the rapidly increasing traffic across to the bay. The people of Wellington had an interest in the bay, for the city owned the magnificent reserve which for all time was to be one of Wellington e chief attractions for holiday trippers and weekend jaunts, and the demands on the ferry traffic would in time be more than the' present arrangements could cope with.
