At a, meeting of (hareholders in the New Zealuml Portland Cement Company, held in Auckland. It was resolved to amalgamate the three large Auckland cement companies, with a view to reducing the cost, of production. The meeting agreed to the formation of a new company, to ho known as the Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement Company, both the Wilsons Portland Cement Company and tho Dominion Portland Cement. Company having already agreed to co-oporato in the .scheme. The. plants and assets of the three companies will ho taken over, and it will then be decided by the directors of the now comuany which of tho works is to remain in operation. One or both of the other plants will be closed until Hiich time as the demand for ceinr.nl in Now Zealand justifies the. reopeniug of one or both o£ them.
