Messrs. Dalgety and C0.,-Ltd Valuierston North, report having held their autumn cattle fair at Taihape on May 1. when an exceptionally ■•heavy yarding of cattle came forward. There was a good attendance of buyers, and most ot mo line 3 submitted changed hands at prices somewhat easier. . Quotations:—ft eancr Hereford heifers, £6 7s. 6d.: weuner Hereford steers, £6 17s. 6d. to £8; mixed weaners, £5 10a. to £5 17s. ed.; medium duality weaners, .63 17s. 6d. to £4 los. hi; clgliteen to twenty-month steers, £7 los. to £9 155.: two-year steers, £12: three and a half-yeav bqllocka. to £14 10s.; breeding cows, to Hereford hulls, £12 Is.; other inferior eowe, £5 103. to £8. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report :-At Mr. Frost's clearing sale on Wednesday there was a largo attendance of buyers from Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, and Mannvratu districts. Competition for all the Shorthorn cattle was particularly keen :ind good prices were realised, the cows making up to 31 guineus. The herd of 32 registered cows and I'pifi'ra iivraßcd 19 cuinens. The 13 yearling U> otehteen-monlhß heifers eligible tor entry in the Herd Book averaged £7.155. Th« yearlinß and eightemi-monthn bulls sold from 7J to 25 guineas. The grade cows made ur> to £18 10s., and averaged for the whole herd £12 10s. .The young stock, sheep, implements, and sundries sold readily, but there was very little demand for the horses. Messrs. Wright, Stcphenson and Co.. Ltd., report having ofleredj a small yarding of sheep and a heavy entry of cattle at the Colombo Eoad yarda on Wednesday. There was a Rood attendance, and a, total clearance was made at satisfactory prices. Grown rattle aold well up to late rates, and younger steers elicited keon comnetition. Quotations: Forward owns, 24f1. id. to 255.; store owes, 155.; mill two-tootb wothers, 15s. Cattle: A lino of
70 three and a half-year P.A. bullocks, on account of S. D. Thompson, realised £15 55.; 50 two and a half-year steers fetching £13 18s. Co., Ltd., report having held a most, successful sale of cows and weancrs at the Carterton yards on (Tuesday, when a. good yarding -was offered to a- fair attendance of buyers. Competition for fat and forward cows ivas good, and woanors of good quality elicited keen competition but young stock of inferior quality was rejected. Prices realised were: P.A.
