Mr. Edmund Candler, writing from Mesopotamia, slates: "Immediately after the rapture of Uagdad we began'to tap the resources of Iho Euphrates, and carried out an irrigation scheme during Iho summer. Fourteen thousand Arabs assisted in digging out nearly uie hundred canals which had fallen into disuse. By this means wo brought three hundred thousand acres into cultivation.
