A SENSATIONAL ESCAPE
CAPTURED AUSTRALIANS MAKE A BOLT FOR IT. London, April 30. Two Australians who wore captured on April 4 havo made a sensational escape. While captives they ivero engaged in burying German dead. They helped to inter thousands. Mid wore surprised at tbo heaviness of the enemy losses. While imprisoned in an old British compound a shell broke the vin. They bolted, and during eight days traversed the. whole of the German lines, hiding in the dnytimo. When challenged they ran, anil dodged the rifle ehots. Approaching the front lines they camo under tho British barrage. Thoy crossed tho enemy trenches full of Bodies and rushed into No slan'« Land, where they ran the gauntlet of the fire nf both eidos. Approaching tho Australian linos they pretended they wero Germans surrendering, but thoy wero treated as spies till they established their identity.—Aus.-N.Z.
