MR. T. E. COATES ASKED TO CONTEST IT. By Telegraph—Press Association. .Greymouth, April 30. There is nothing definite yet as to who is to oppose Mr. Holland for the 6rey seal. The three opponents previously announced have adopted an attitude of withdrawal to avoid vote-splitting. At a preliminary meeting in Greymouth yesterday, presided over by the Mayor, at which Labour other than the Keel Federation was represented, it was decided, to wait on Mr. T. 13. Coates to-day to urge him to remain in the contest. Mr. R. Wilson's position is that he has placed himself at the disposal of the electors', whilst Mr. Kerr's withdrawal is announced from Wellington. Mr. Coates is out of the town for some days. The attitude of Messrs. Wilson and Kerr has made the way clear for Mr. Coates, who is expected to return from his farm at Ivouara to-day. . Meanwhile the Labour Parly lead in organisation work. Mr. Holland fires the first shot of the campaign in Greymouth on Thursday nest.
