ST. MARK'S PARISH
THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Mark's Church was held last evening, tho vicar, the Rev. C. F. Askew, U.A., presiding. ■The annual report statod that the finances of the parish were fairly satisfactory. Tho general oilortories showed an increase of ildO 5?. Id. Pew vents increased by .£3O 10s., and the year ended March 31 closed with a credit balance of ill' 3s. lid., as agaiust ,£2G Is. 2d. last year. In September, 1917, the first Diocesan Church School under the newlyformed Church Schools' Board, was opened in tho parish schoolroom,' and there were now 120 pupils on the roll, of whom 10 are boys, and a successful fuituro seemed assured. The yestry received a donation of .£IOO towards tho expense of fitting up St. Mai'k'a Church School. The annual sale-of work realised *£265 ss. Bd. The Parish Missionary and Benevolent Society collected the sum of i£so 4s. '9d. Tho Parish Trust Board's statement showed a total of J51431 9s. dd. to credit of the Rebuilding Fund, an increase of Os. Id. The vicar read an interesting report on the year's work. In moving tho adoption of tho report and balance-sheet, Mr. W. oG. Gaudin (a churchwarden) dealt with the finances and expressed the opinion that the finances were sound and the outlook was satisfactory. Tho report was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows Churchwardens: Vicar's, Mr. W. H. Madeloy; parishioners', Mr. W. G. Gaudin. Vestry, Messrs. A. J. Williamson, ]{. L. Button, G. W. Barltrop, .T. Besant, V. Houghton, ]J. Masack, D. Allen, R. E. Rawnsley, A. Staco, and A. ,T. S. White; Church School committee, Messrs. W. ,T. Gaudin, G. W. Barltrop, ,T. Besant, and W. Madeloy; auditors, Messrs. W. llaworlh and G. W. Morgan, j The vicar moved a vpto of thanks to i the churchwardens, • and eulogised their services to tho parish, and this was carried with Acclamation, and a vot.o of thanks to tho outgoing members of the vestry was similarly received. Votes of thanks wero also accordcd tho Sunday school teachers'/'-tho membors of the choir, tho auditors, ladies of St. Marks Sowing Guild, contributors to tho parish magazine, and others who have helped in church work and in tho parish. It was moved by Mr. Besant: "That it bo' a rccoiuniendation to tho Synod that the franchise, bo extended to women aged 21 years' and over, resident in the parish, and io men and women not resident in the pa'ish, but who regularly attend the parish church." This- was seconded by Mr. W. J. Gaudin. Tho vicar moved an amendment:"That every communicant over 21 years of age regularly attending any particular church shall bo'entitled' to yoto at any annual meeting, wliothpr,- Tcsidsiit in tho pnrish or not, biiit no voter shall record his or her voto i' l - more than one vaiish. Mr. Besant withdrew his motion in favour of the amendment, which was carried.
ST. MICHAEL'S AND ALL ANGELS'. The annual report of the ch iirchwanlons and vestrv of St. Michael's an<! All Angels.' Church, Kelburfl, congratulates parishioners cn <he formation of tho new parochial district of Kelburii, and in tho great increase in rttendances at all services during the year. Special efforts and appeals have added the sum of .£il3 19s. Bd. to the credit of the church build, in;; fund, and the churchwardens gratefully acknowledge tho _ valuable assistance of the J«uhes' Guild and the Sunday School, tho Baptistry fund of the lattor having increased by ,£72 Is. Sd, Tho Red 'Cross branch ot the Ladies Guilcl, established during the year, has made a largo number of articles of clothing and comfort. The I'eed lor then' work is especially great at this lime, and assistance wili lie thankfully welcomed. The need for the new bnil(l->.'; has be. come very axiute, the churchivcn having ou occasion failed to accommodate all those desiring to worship, and, while thanking most heartily the many friends who contributed so well, the churchwardens regret that the appeal during tho year did not meet with a more adequate response. General olfertories for the year totalled ,£I6G 13s. 2d.; special offertories, .£SO .'Bs. firl.; contributions to. ward assessment for stipend, .£B6 15s. 8(1.; total of building fund, JC1268 las. 5(1.; building fund increased during the year bv jcil2 19s. Bd.; total of children's (Baptistry) building fund, .£123 15s. 9d. . The number of Sunday School scholars is now over 120, and the regular attendance has been most encouraging.
