110 LICE AND MAINTENANCE CASES, j Mr. S. E. M'Carlhy, S.M., presided at j the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and j dealt? with tho police and maintenanco cases. For insobriety Ruby Florence Trosser, against whom there was a previous conviction, was fined 205., with the alternative" of seveu days' imprisonment. Thineas Stone, a prohibited person, was | fined COs., in default seven days' im-J prisonment. Five first offenders, nona ' of whom put in an appearance, wero each , fined 205., with the option of serving 48 hours in, gaol. . MAINTENANCE CASES. Abraham Whalley Solomon was charged with failing to comply with an j order for the maintenance of his wife 1 and child, the o-rears amounting to j 2s. Bd. Mr. ,J, S. Barton appeared for tho complains nt, and Mr. W. L. Rothon. berg for the defendant. A great deal of evidence was taken, including that of the principals in the suit, and the case was adjourned for a fortnight for tho production of receipts and tho taking of further evidence. An application was made for the variation of a maintenance order against Arthur Robert Richardson. Mr. I'. Jackson appeared for tho complainant, and Mr. J. Tripe for the defendant. The maintenance order was piade by consent, and the question was whether the Court had power under the circumstances to increase the amount. _ On this point the Magistrate roserved his decision. <
