MOXEr MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate was on January 2, 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., oil January 'ii it wa6 rtduc&i to 5 per cont., and on January £3 to 3 per cent. On July 30 tho rate was raised to 4 jer cent., on July 31 it wae raised to 8 per cent., and cu August 1 it was fur- • ther advauced to 10 por cent. On Auzust; £ tho rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12. 1917, it was reduced to 5i nor cent., and on April 5 it wae further reduced to 5 por cent. O'PEKT IIAEKET KATES. The open market discount rate for three gionths' bills is 35 per cent., ae conmared with 31 per cent, latt week, and 43 ner cent, last year.
