Saturday's weather for the time of the year was wonderfully mild, but Sunday gran- threatening as the- day wore on, the atmosphere became opiJi'essive.and finally tie rain came on. During the night it came down in torrential squalls. The Meteorological Department, whioh does not as a rule 6ond out Sunday forecasts, issued the following brief comment:— "Present indications tire for high north to west-winds. Stormy weather, with heavy rain, is probable. The glass is falling."
