WEEKLY SHIPPING RETURNS . ' DISCONTINUED . GROSS TONNAGE LOSSES London, April 24. The Admiralty announces the discontinuance of tho weekly shipping rotiwns. In placo of these returns will bo substituted information giving the gross tonnago lost, aiso the tonnngo of sailings to and from the United Kingdom monthly, which will Iμ published on tho 21st of each month approximately. Tho following tablo ehows tho gross tonnage losses from all causes, of—(a) British, (b) Allied and neutral, (c) aggregate in the periods indicated. British. Foreign. Total. Tons. Tone. Tons. April, 1917 555,000 339,000 894,000 April, May, Juno, 1917 ... 1,362,000 875,000 2,237,000 March, 1918 .... 216,000 100,000 382,000 Jan., Feb., and March, 1918 088,000 436,000 1,124,000 The losses in January, February, and March, 1918 (fourth item in tho table), wore the lowest recorded in any one quartor since tho campaign began. Those of April, May, and Jim", 1917 (second item), wore the highest quarter's total; and thoso of April, 1917 (first item), tho heaviest in one month. The Ministry of Shipping announces that tho tonnage of steamships oxeceding 800 gross tons to and from the United Jiingdom, but excluding coastwise and OTOSS-Channel traffic, waa in March 7.29G,000 tons, which is the highest since October of last year, when tho total was 0,000,000.—Au5.-N.Z.
