OIL-LAUNCH FOUNDERS
THREE MEN DROWNED. By Telegraph-Press Association. Wanganui, April 2*l. The oil-launch Monarch foundered in the roadstead this morning, with the result that three men wore drowned. The names of two of the men ore Patrick Begley and Oswald Lewis. Tho identity of tho third man has not been established. The launch left the river on Tuesday afternoon on a fishing trip, and during the night the weather became boisterous. Early this morning the launch was noticed making for port. A heavy sea was running at the time, and when near the breakwater the launch was seen to suddenly tiit her bow in the air and disappear. "Unfortunately the 1 persons who saw the launch in difficulties did not report tho matter at the time, with the result that the harbour officials wore unaware of the accident until later in the day, when the mast and a portion of the launch's 'fittings were washed ashore. Tin* police are making search of the south beach for the bodies.
