As another boats is leaving for Auckland this week thero has been a more active demand during the last few days for potatoes, and ■£5 los. is now being paid at handy etations, and £5 12s. 6d. at more distant stations. Crops are, turning out unevenly, and on the irhole are much lighter than usual. Thero is a prospect of business being done in potatoes between Molbqurno and Wellington. Offers. of supplies' of white-skinned potatoes have been made from Melbourne at ,£5 10s. for May, June, and July delivery, and up to £6 10s. for July, August, and September. It will cost another £2 10s. to land them at Wellington'or Anokland, and it is reported than Bomo sales have already been made. It is stated that the Board of Trade is to visit Christchurch early nest -week, and will make inquiry into tho price of potatoes.
