Tho Bank of Eugland discount rate was on January 2, 1911, reduced from 6 to 4j per cent., on January 22 11 was to 4 per cent., and on January 23 to 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate wae raised to 4 por cent., on July 31 it was raised to 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advauced to 10 per cent. On August 6 the rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on Auguet 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., on July. 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5i per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent. OPEN MARKET HATES. The open market discount rate for threo months' bills is 3j per cent., as compared with 3J per cent Inst week, and 4J per ci'iii. last year.
Short loaiis are quoted at 3j per cent., as against 3J per csrJ/. last week, and 4J per cent, last year.
