The New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile igency Co., Ltd., report:—At our Upper Rutt yards, on Thursday, -we submitted a largo yarding of both sheep and cattle. Biddins was very keen, which enabled Uβ ,to make a .total' clearance of stock at ,• (prices in favour of vendors. We quote.— ' Forward mixed ago ewes (empty), 265. lid.; mixed age ewea (low condition), 17s. to ißs.; medium 2-tooth wethers, 265.; small 2-tooth wethers, 22b. 6d\; fat cowe ismall), £11 55.; fat heifere £11 16s; store/cows (aged), £5 12s. 6d.; Btore cows, £6 7e. to £7 155.; spring-calving cows, £8; springing heifere, £9 10s. to £11; 2-year steers (mixed), £9 ' 7a. 6d.; aged mare, £6. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report:— 'At Tanmarunui, on April 16, ivo had' a moderate entry of stock ( the quality of which was on tho whole fairly good. There was a large attendance of buyers ana farmers. Prices showed an improvement on late rates, although they were still rather lower than those ruling some time ago. Practically the whole of our yarding was disposed of at auction, or after •the sale, at the following prices:—Sheep: Forward 2-tooth to 6-tooth vethlrs, 30b.; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 295.; 2-tooth weihers 275. 6d.; 2-tooth V/ f Try store eves, 145., 15s. 6d., arid 16s. 6d.; full-mouth ewes, Uβ.. 3d., 16s. 3d.; Aged ewes (store), lie. 6d. At the TJppBB Hutt on .Thursday, Messrs. Ualgety and. Company, litri., offered a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle. Competition throughout the sale for pheep was keen, although bidding lor young cattle and steers was slow. The principal sales were as under:—Fat and . forward ewes, Kb. Zd ; shorn lambs, 10s. Bd. to Us.-, small shorn lambs, 95.; forward-conditioned, good shorn lambß, 165.. Sd ; 6-tooth to f.f.m. c\vfiß,:2ss. 7d.; fulL-nuratlr ewes, 19s. to 20s. 3d.; fat ewes, 335. 3d.; medium shorn lambs, 14e. Id. Cattle: .Forward empty cowa, £7 Vs. 6d. to £7.105.; light-weight fat heifers, £8; IJ-months empty heifers, -£4 2s. 6d.; 18-months steers, £5; forward empty covfs, £8 12s. 6d ; 18-months spriiiging heifcre, £6; springing cows, £9 ss. to £l&Messrs. Dalgety and. Company Limited, report having held their weekly sale at Levin on April 16, when they offered a good yarding ■of both sheep and nattle. Competition under the hammer was fairly lteen; and most of the stock nlfered . was eold, the principal .sales beim* as under:— Light-weight fat ewes and wethers, 3Cs.; fat lambs, 215.;, small 'horn lambs, 9s. Id to 9s; , 9d.; medium-condilioned dry ewes, 17s. 7d.; good woolly lambs, 16s. Cattle: Forward empty cows, £7 2s. 6d to £7 55.; 2-year-old Shorthorn-cross steers, £9 2b.; 2-year-old Shorthorn heifers, £9 5».; badcoloured 2J to 3year steers, .S9 155.; .Short-horn-cross weancr steers £4 ss.
