This is not so, nnd if nil goes v.-ell > in tho meanwhile Mr. Lowry will 6end the ! champion mare, accompanied by Estland I and Pinmark, to Eandwiok in the whiter, nnd they will bo raced in Sydney in tho following spring. I'rom Sydney conies word of the death of Ibex, ono of tho greatest sprinters ever raced in Australia; One of Ibex's most sensational performances during his career waß his defeat of Cruciform, Wakeful, and Famous in the Craven Plato of 1903. Evidently M. Hobbs has hopes of getting a few more races out of Kilboy, though it may bo next season before ho is fit to sport silk again. At present the eon of Kilbroney is putting on condition nicely, and appears to be thriving on tho light tasks apportioned him at Eiccarton. Impediment has beaten Bonnio Maid more than once this season up to a mile and a half tsayß tho "N.'i. Sporting and Dramatic Review"}; Bonnio Maid has beaten Eatland a niilo and three-quarters, Estland has beaten Biplane a mile, Bipiano has beatcu most of tho best horses in Australia, just as Desert Gold has done, over varying distances up to a milo and ' a half. Now where aro we? Trials, tho winner of tho Autumn Handicap at tho Manawata Club's Meeting had previously shown a liking for tho Awapuui course this season, as ho won the President's Handicap at tho olub's summer future, when Client filled second place. U'ho son of Tribulation is to be sold by public auction at Hastings next Saturday. Tim Doolan was amongst the starters in tho Brush Bteeplechuso at llentono early this month, but though only opposed by a moderate lot he failed to gain a place.
When Mehi King won tho City Tattersall's Cup last Saturday he carried Bst. 41b., whilo Eebus, the runner-up, had 9st. in tho saddle, Mehi King is *by Mountain King, ono of whose sons in Mountain Knight is doing etud duty at Te Mahanga.
Finmark is now proclaimed tho best two-year-old in the Dominion, and it is significant that big things were oxpected of him early in tho season.' but in his first sovon starts ho did not win a race, ,though he was placed on half a dozen occasions. Then ho scored in tho Wellington Stakes at Trentham, and since then ho has won the TaranaUi' Stakes, the Egmont Stakes, the Great Northern Champagne Stakes and tho Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes. Though ho has dono a lot of racing tho full-brother to Eetland has finished the season without any appearance of being overdone. Ho will now go into winter auartore and all going well the chestnut colt will be found taliVig his place in tho A.J.O. Derby field next spring.
Biplane has no moro engagements this season, so he will now undergo a lengthy spell. Present intentions aro to race him in Australia next season.
At. Hastings next week tho Loan and Mercantile Company, under instructions from tho executors of the estate of tho late Mr. W. J. Douglas, will ofler for sale several brood mares and yearlings. At tho Barno salo several horses, tho property, of Mr. J. W. Wlute, of Havelock North, will be sold.
