SOLDIERS' TRAINING FARM
A WAIR-ARAPA SCHEME/ ■■ A proposal is being made in the Wairarnpa district to establish a training farm on which young men who_ wish to take up land on tfleir return irom the war may'receive-a training in the arts of fariimif.'. A deputation Irom the Wairarapa interviewed the Prime Minister awl Sir. Josepn Ward about this project 3 Dili's "liirm is to cost about M,m. The land has already been secured Mr. W. Perry having given 700 acres and 400 acres additional iiavin;; been purchased. A further sum of ,£15,000 is required tor buildings, and for the <>,velopmenc of Ihe property, and the suggestion of the deputation was that tho (jovernment should find this. money ..and:, contribute towards the maintenance of the iarm .oh tho understanding that after tlie. place . was iio longer nettied as a. training iarm for 'soldiers it should bs minded over to the Government as a iarm to bs used in conjunction with an agricultural college. It was Arranged that the- deputation should supply some additional details required, and the Ministers pronieed to submit tho matter to Cabinet.
