Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report having offered a good yarding of 6heep and cattle at the Colombo Road yards on Wednesday, when a total clearance was effected, a marked improvement in, tho tone of the market beinc DOticeable, especially on stock of good quality. They quote: Forward ewes. 205., 215., to 235. 6d.; small two-tooth wethers, 245. 7d.; medium lambs, 165.; store ewes, 13s; 4d. to 155.; cull ewes, 7s. to 10s. 3d. Cattle: Three-year P.A. bullocks, to £16 65.; two and a half-year Hereford steers, to £16; three and a half-year bullocks, £13 ss„ £14 10s., £14 155., to £15; two and a half-year and three and a half-year steers, £10 2s. 6d. to £12 2b. 6d.; m.s. Hereford weaners, £8 55.; S.H. heifers 'two and a half-year), £9 135.; Etore cows, £5 6fi. ;to £8; eighteen-inonths dairy hnifers, £5 75.; m.s. weaners, 255. to £4 6s. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative 'Association, Ltd., stock department, report on their Masterton. sale, held in the Colombo Eoad yards, as under :-Our yarding, consisting of slightly. under 2000 sheep, and about 350 head of cattle, was submitted to a very largo attendance. Business at auction was keen for sheep, the. result being a total clearance. Grown c.ittle were also in good demaud, and while some pens of store cattle were "passed in" exceptionally good business resulted from private treaty, and only one or two pens remained unsold at the close of the day.
