A. large posse of police is searching for the perpetrator,, but has not found any trace of him. Reports have been current that the fngifive has been seen at various places dis- • tant from the scene of the tragedy, but investigation has proved that tnese were unwarranted. Miss Burke, one uf the victims of tho shootln?, still lies in a precarious condition. Mr. Bartholomew, S.M., opened an inquest this morning on Burte's body, lull: after evidence as to identification hail been heard, the inquest was- adjourned sine die.
