$ (To the Editor.) Sir,—ln the :lobate in Parliament on the national service scheme on Saturday night, the Hon. G. W. Knssoll, Minister of Public Health, is reported to havo said "There were doctors who were enjoying lives of ease, frequenting tourist resorts, and 60 on, while thevo were people dying for luck of medical aid. These men should l>o conscripted and made to work at their profession." As a Minister of tho Crown the Hon. Mr. Kussell must bo taken seriously, auil wo are calling upo:i him to justify this grave chargo against a profession tho members of which are commonly know,n to talk less and to work mors than any politician. As responsible, officers of tlio British Medical Association, which includes nearly all tho doctors in New Zealand in its membership, we do not beliove that there is any foundation whatever for Mr. Russell's charge.—We are, CtC " J. S. ELLIOTT, Chairman of Council, Ii.M.A. H. E. GIBBS, Secretary N.Z. Branch IUt.A.
