One of the young women is in a, serious condition, but is expected to reach hospital after midnight. It is reported that the assnilaul was a, returned soldier, belonging to Oamaru,, who used an automatic revolver. A. police sergeant and eoustablen were early on the scene, but have not yet returned to town.
