EOYAL COMIC'S MATINEE TO-DAY,

This aftornoon, at 2 o'clock, J. C. Williamson's Koya Comic Opera > Companywill present a complete lepresentation of the musical comedy. "Mr. Manhattan," the whole of the proceeds of which will be devoted to the Red Jersey Fund. The whole of .tho 150 people concerned m the production, behind and in front of the scenes, have generously volunteered their services, and the J. C. Williamson, Ltd.. management is paying the whole of the local expenses, including tlie advertising, and in addition they have donated two £5 War Bonds, which will be raffled amongst -Jhe purchasers of tickets during the interval The plans for the matinee will be on viftw at the Bristol until midday, and afterwards seats may bo reserved at the Opera House confectionery

MEETING AT KHANDALLAH. An enthusiastic meeting wns held last evening in the Khandallah Town Hall, His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. M. Dale) presiding. Others present included Mesdames Waldie, Dumbell, Richardson, Dale, Cameron, Miss Sunderland, Messrs. J. G. Smith, Abrahams, ■ Pope, Porteous, Councillors Bitdd and Hodgson. Mr. F. Rasey, organiser for the Red Jersey Appeal; who was present at the invitation of the committee, outlined the great red and blue artillery scheme which is now being organised in the city and suburbs to raise funds generally. This was well received by all present, and tho meeting decided to immediately organise their suburb accordingly. Mrs. Cox, hon. secretary for the Paddy's Market, mentioned the progress of the Market generally, the success of which Was assured; and it was decided to make a house-to-house canvass for all classes of goods, which would ho sent to the suburban general stall.
