The following are the latest quotations lor Consols and Colonial Government Securities in comparison with those ruling last week:— .
There ia a slight depression on the Stock Exchange, .but no pressure to sell. MONEY MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate was 1 " on January 2, 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was reduces to 4 per cent., and on January 23 to 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent., on July 31 it was raised to 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 the rate was rcduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduoed to 5 per cent., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5J per cent., and on April 5 it< was further reduced to 5 per cent. •. OPEN MARKET HATES. The open market discount rate for three months' bills is 3J per cent., aa compared with 3i per cent, last week, and 4i per cent, last year. Short loans are quoted at 3J per cent, as against 3J por cent. laßt week, and 4J per cent, last year. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. ■ Butliof.—Further good arrivals. The Food Controller is distributing a further 25 per cent, to tho Trade's April applications, nnd also 50 per cent, of the applications from the manufacturers of biscuits, etc. Wheat.—Nothing doing. Flour—Little business in overseas pqr> eels at late rates. Oats, Bcanß, and Peaa.-Soarccand firm. Sugar.—Unchanged. THE METAL MARKETS. Bar silver, 46Jd. per standard.
