SKETCH EXHIBITION
The eketcli exhibition, to bo opened at the Art Gallery, Whitmore Street, on April 20, promises to be. one of the most important yet held by the Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to the works by artist members, and artists of kindred societies in other centres of the dominion, of which a considerable number aro reported to be forthcoming, there will be shown for the first time in New Zealand, collections of paintings, etching, and drawings by some of tha younger members of the Australian schools. .Mr. W. H. L. Cooper, of Wellington, is lending a,number of pictures from his collection. Mr; Herbert Barr, also of Wellington, is lending several wash drawings by Norman Lindsay, as well 'as a clever original' drawing by Phil May. Two fine pencil drawings by Clias. Nuttall will also be shown. A number of original etchings by Rembrandt and a raro woodcut by Albrechfc Durer, the great Nuremberg engraver, to whom also is accredited the discovery of the art of etching, will now be shown here for the first time.
