WAGES AND COST OF LIVING
POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICERS' RESOLUTIONS. At tile annual meeting of the Wellington section of the Poet and Telegraph Officers' Association, hold on Wednesday' evening, the following motions wero carried unanimously :— "(I) This section of the association again expresses its disappointment over the failure of the authorities to check the unreasonable profits now wrung from the domestic needs, of the community by profiteers, and considers; despite pa6t failure,, there is still timo aufl means of dealing with this national question in a, thoroughly practical way "(2)' Failing action to reduce the cost of living, this section of tho associa' tion urges that nil wages and salaries be automatically increased (oil calculations mado by the Government Statis ticia'n), so that their pro-war spending value will bo restored. "(3) This section of the- Post aiK Telegraph Association, while thoroughly in accord with any action which wil benefit all classes and grades' of the community in one or both of these connections, cannot forget the experience of tho Inst three years. Being, there, fore, obliged to anticipate that, tho Gov-> eminent will again adopt tho system of! granting war bonuses as a means of re* liei'ing the necessities of its employees! drawing small salaries, it respectfully , but firmly submits that all Public Servants should bo treated alike, and their! scale of relief bo increased to bring! it into line with that approved for thej' railway employees." '
