( The steady increase in the price of footwear in Christchurch is causing some comment, and a meeting of the Christchurch Boot Retailers' Association has been called for next- week for the purpose of attempting tp induce the local boot manufacturers to reduce their charges. The retailers say that tie New Zealand boot manufacturers are .taking advantage of the practical : elimination of outside competition, and have raised their prices to an, unfair extent. If.the retailers cannot 6ecuro any concessions as a result of next week's meeting they propose to approach the Government in; the matter.
