Sydney, April 9. Replying to much sharp criticism arising out of the record attendances at Raudwick during the last meeting while the- thinned Australian battalions in France so insistently call for reinforcements, the big men of the sport most vitally interested agree that there is too much racing, but claim that the fault lies with the Government in not curtailing it. They declare that recommendations made for the limitation of sport have been so whittled away, presumably because of influential representations, that racing is rapidly getting back to its former extraordinary proportions. They insist thnt the object of the big clubs is the sport and the improving of horse-breeding, and not for profit. As to the other clubs and the pony clubs, which cater for non-utility animate, they demand that these should be reduced to the minimum. They point out that since the commencement of the year no fewer than 128 races have been run on pony courses, the prize money averaging only £73. , '
